Razer Diamondback Configuration for Linux
Diamondback via Xorg
Firstly, I am using Ubuntu Dapper Drake 6.06. After the upgrade I needed to do full configuration of my mouse in Xorg. Here are the lines in my config under Section “InputDevice”
Identifier “Mouse1″
Driver “mouse”
Option “CorePointer”
Option “Resolution” “1600″
Option “Buttons” “9″
Option “Device” “/dev/input/mice”
Option “Name” “Razer Diamondback Optical Mouse”
Option “Protocol” “ExplorerPS/2″
Option “ZAxisMapping” “4 5″
Option “ButtonMapping” “1 2 3 6 7 8 9″
Now, this is just what is mostly working for me. Notice the keyword…mostly. I haven’t been able to find the right combination in order to get the right side buttons to work. Honestly tho, I dont have much motivation to because I don’t use them! All buttons work with that configuration but the buttons on the right side show up as mouse wheel up/down. It’s very odd to me.
For anyone who might not know how to edit their Xorg file here’s a quick run down.
1. Open a terminal
2. Become sudo or root (do “sudo su” then enter your password or su -)
3. Then type gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf — if you’re familiar with vi, nano, emacs or whatever else substitute that for gedit
4. Find the section that says “InputDevice”
5. Enter configuration as shown above.
6. Save file
7. Restart X (ctrl + alt + backspace will do this a reboot would work too)
This configuration works very well for me. Since the right side buttons dont work you could list the mouse as a 5 button probably. I’m not an xorg or mouse expert by any means so anyone with more input on this subject is welcome. Hopefully the above helps someone tho =)
