I Hate This Guy
I was really hoping to sit down today to try to watch 30 consecutive minutes of television without having to see this guy, but it appears that this is becoming increasingly unlikely these days. Is there anyone left in North America that doesn’t hate Billy Mays?
Maybe “hate” is a strong word. I’m sure had I never seen any of these ads that if I met the guy at a business lunch or in line at the grocery store that some glorious friendship may have ensued. But as it stands today, I’m sick to death of this guy coming into my living room, squinting, raising his voice and trying to sell me a bunch of crap.

Rollin’ Here and Now: Monopoly Review
Monopoly is an all time great past time here in America and so are cell phones. Why not merge the two? Sounds pretty genius to me. Well, it might not have turned out genius but it certainly makes taking a crap a lot better.
If you have not been born yet you might not know what Monopoly is. If that should happen to be you please just run away and go back to your hole. For the rest of you, Monopoly is a game that might ring out “OMG WHEELBARROW!,” Park Place and Board Walk, or Free Parking, baby. It’s a long celebrated game that is available in just about any “edition” imaginable. The transition to the mobile (cell phone) platform is well done.

Arrest in Virtual Homicide Case
I was looking forward to a quiet evening at home tonight. We ordered a pizza and tuned our Digital Cable Box to the news channel that’s going to give us the election coverage with the slant I like. I had no intention of writing a single word.
Stupid me, I fired up the laptop to flip through the various electoral polls for the day but was ambushed with this Associate Press Headline:
“Online divorcee jailed after killing virtual hubby”
Sonuvabitch. No way I can let that go without comment.

Heroes: Dying of the Light…or Just Poor Plotting?
With the World Series getting ready to roll let’s make with the baseball analogies. I’m starting to believe there are no Home Runs left in Heroes. Maybe it’s like the curse of the Bambino. The Red Sox traded Babe Ruth and suffered decade after decade of pain. Heroes traded it’s sanity and soul and is in the midst of hell.

W: Too Little Too Soon
“If this were a dictatorship, it’d be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I’m the dictator.” - George W. Bush
I say with all due respect that if there was anyone qualified to be the Hollywood hatchet man to take a whack at one of the most hated presidents in U.S. history, Oliver Stone would be the one. However, I was a little taken aback by the fact the man who brought us such intensely powerful films as Platoon, JFK, and Born on the Fourth of July has given us a film like W, almost as lightweight of an epic as the intellect of the man who’s biography is being portrayed.

Fantasy Football: The MAYBE Mid-Season Report
Everyone seems to have a different time to start their fantasy football playoffs so this might be mid-season for you or it might not be. To be honest, I don’t really care! Sit down, shut up, and read this damn article to find some interesting tid-bits out about where the fantasy players are ranking right now.
If you don’t know already, I pretty much hate default fantasy scoring so some of what I’m about to tell you might be more surprising than what i had already planned. Check out my Fantasy Football Fixes article and then come back.
Okay, so away we are…

Campaign 2008: McCain Falters, Obama Surges. Why?
As of today, all the national media polls have Obama with double digit leads. One of the reasons I haven’t written too much about politics is because the entire process inspires way too much passion the last 8 years or so and getting worked up about it generally pisses me off.
I won’t make any bones about this, I was a raised in a staunchly Republican household and just as in my Catholic upbringing, the beliefs were indoctrinated from an early age. It’s for another time to argue why I’m no longer a conservative. At that point you can start pointing out why you think I’m a bleeding heart liberal or whatever the hell, but I will offer as objective a view as I can as to why I think the polls are swinging heavily Obama’s way, and they aren’t all reasons I’m seeing the pundits mention in the media. Personally, I think they’re missing some of the fairly obvious, but perhaps less politically correct observations so far.

Heroes Ratings Slide Continues: This Week–Angels and Demons
Ratings for season 3 of Heroes continue their slide going into week 4. I think the sins of season 2 are not forgotten. Producer Tim Kring had to apologize for the mess that was last year. I have the bad feeling that nothing short of a spectacular launch for the new year could have prevented the loss of viewership.

The New Xbox Wiiperience
On November 19th, 2008 your Xbox Live Experience is going to get a Wii better. Microsoft will be pushing out an Xbox Live update that is going to make a lot of people happy and possibly some people a Wii bit bitter…Okay, that might be one too many Wii knocks already but no one is hiding it, not even Microsoft so let’s just enjoy talking about the giant pink elephant sitting in your living room.
The real question though?
Why you should be excited about this update. Let me tell you…

Classic Gaming: KABOOM! The Quest for 10,000 Points
One of my fondest video game memories is the Activision classic Kaboom! for the Atari 2600. Back in the days when the simple appeal of repetitive, score driven gaming could hold your interest for hours on end this was the top shelf for a pre-teen like myself.
