5 DVDs for non-Sci-Fi Geeks

Since the first article was so popular I thought I’d do a follow up before Christmas on what DVD’s to get for the “non-Sci-Fi Geek.”

1. Batman - Dark Knight - $17 for basic, $23 for SE, $26 for Blu-Ray, $50 for Limited Edition Blu-Ray
Was there really a question of what would go here?  The best movie of the year by 10 galaxies (needed some sci-fi reference) and it was for all the right reasons.  Action, drama, great effects, excellent acting, and things going boom!  What else do you need?

2. 16 Ton Monty Python Megaset - $65
Monty Python lovers, or people that appreciate that sort of humor, would love this set.  It has the entire collection of Monty Pythons Fly Circus and a ton, erm, 16 tons of extra content as well.

3. Super Bowl/Greatest Games Collection Package(s) - $20 - $40
Great picks for really dedicated fans.  They contain, usually, 10 games that are considered the best in team history as a complete broadcast If you pickup the Packers, Steelers, Cowboys, or 49ers you’re going to get broadcasts of the Super Bowls and other classic games.

4. Sopranos - The Complete Series - $200
I have to admit here that I am a Sopranos n00b.  Here’s the thing with this recommendation we all know someone, in close relation, who is a Sopranos nut.  Just confess it.  How could any Sopranos nut get any happier than to get this set?

5. Oceans 11/12/13 Set - $27
Not everyone loves the Ocean series but I certainly enjoyed watching the movies. This is just a ton of value here at number 5.  3 movies, all of which are at least pretty good, for under $30!  The best part of these flicks is that you can watch them with the significant other, friends, or random people from off the street.  Okay, that’s not really the best part but I started thinking of Cheez Whiz and Chicken in a Biscuit there for a second and had no idea why

  1. ScuzzBuster Says:

Own the Python set bought when they were selling them separately. You can get the three disc sets that make up the big set of as little $9.00 a piece now via ebay or even at Fry’s.

    Oceans…can I skip 12?

So what, is it 20-40 per game on the superbowl discs? I would love to own the complete broadcast of some of those. They’re harder to come by than I expected.

  2. HyperLithium Says:

Honestly, the descriptions were a little rough but it basically seemed like you get the 10 best games of each franchise so I would imagine you’d be getting all of the super bowls.

Here’s what’s on the Cowboys discs for example

    “Super Bowl® VI - Cowboys vs. Dolphins - 1/16/72
The “Hail Mary” Game - Cowboys vs. Vikings - 12/28/75
    Super Bowl® XII - Cowboys vs. Broncos - 1/15/78
The Atlanta Comeback - Cowboys vs. Falcons - 1/4/81
    1992 NFC Championship Game - Cowboys vs. 49ers - 1/17/93
    Super Bowl® XXVII - Cowboys vs. Bills - 1/31/93
    1993 NFC Championship Game - Cowboys vs. 49ers - 1/23/94
    Super Bowl® XXVII - Cowboys vs. Bills - 1/30/94
1995 NFC Championship Game - Cowboys vs. Packers - 1/14/96
    Super Bowl® XXX - Cowboys vs. Steelers - 1/28/96
    Format: DVD
    Number of discs: 10
    Officially licensed”
