Super Colts - My AFC Super Bowl Pick
It’s almost here, playoff time. The time of the mystical frozen tundra. The time of “WIDE RIGHT!” The time that sets teams apart and I think it will, once again, be Manning’s time. The Colts are getting on a roll at just the right time.
Indy has 3 games left this season and should end up in a real nice spot for the playoffs. Lions, Jags, Titans are how Manning will be finishing the year up. The Titans have already won the division but the Colts will easily earn a playoff spot and that’s all they will need.
Having a bit of a rough start plagued with injuries it was easy to overlook the Colts but they have been on a tear winning six in a row. That six was not all cupcakes either with the likes of Pittsburgh, San Diego, and even New England in there. For anyone who forgot, Manning had surgery in the off-season and did not play all pre-season. As a result the Colts offense just couldn’t get it together at the beginning but over the last six games Manning has been every bit of his normal self with a passer rating of 98.48, throwing 12 TD’s and only 2 INT’s, and completing almost 70% of his passes. Any fantasy football owner out there with #18 will contest that his numbers have shot up immensely.
That’s not all the good news for the Colts. Just like in their Super Bowl run their defense is finally starting to come to life. Averaging 3 sacks a game in the last 4 the defense has been applying pressure on passers. This has been an area where Indy has not done well in the past but they are priming for the playoffs.
If the playoffs did start today the Colts would match up with the Jets (very winnable game) and then face the Titans. The Titans have had a very good season but the Colts almost beat them once already and will be playing them at the end of the regular season. There is a good possibility that game will not mean anything for both teams so I’m not predicting a playoff preview. Indy could have their hands full with stopping the run with the Titans but I have a feeling Manning and the offense will help by controlling the ball more. Getting by the Titans they would move onto either Baltimore, Pittsburgh, or Denver. Each of those teams have been up and down at very best with the Colts showing much more consistency as the season is wrapping up.
There you have it. Manning and company will be representing the AFC in the Super Bowl this year to face off with…someone from the NFC! More to come!

Anybody else think the Super Bowl logo looks like they’re announcing Super Bowl XLW?

Very similar to tags on the clothes I see at the Casual Male Big and Tall Store. Also the file extension for MS-Excel workspaces files. Damn, now I’m going to be thinking about work all through the stinkin’ Superbowl.
In addition, I’m from Indy, I’m not THAT optimistic. They are getting it done on this roll, but the offense is still not clicking with the consistency they need. The Titans rematch will be a big tell by the end of the season.

Some fan you are, Scuzz! Haha. I just don’t see a dominate “force” emerging in the AFC. The Steelers are probably at the top but they’ve won a couple games here they probably should not have. The Colts, I think, are just coming together at the right time and that will make them dangerous.
