Super Bowl - Breakdowns by Position
The World Series, the World Cup, the Stanley Cup, the NBA Championship, and even March Madness are pale mortals in America compared to 1 football game every year, the Super Bowl. Super Bowl Sunday is now played almost a full month later in the year than when it originally started and it only seems to build to the game even more. Bart Starr was the first Super Bowl MVP when the Packers defeated the Chiefs at the Memorial Coliseum in a 35 to 10 victory. This years Super Bowl will be “a first” for the Arizona Cardinals with their veteran and former Super Bowl MVP, Kurt Warner at the helm. An almost inconceivable match up at the beginning of the year is actually pretty close. Let’s break down Cardinals vs Steelers.

Galactica: “The Oath” is Broken. Damnit Felix!
Any Galactica fans not shaking mad after The Oath probably are severely misguided about the show’s vision. Before I start going off about this week’s episode let me give a big Frakkin’ THANKS SCI-FI for pretty much making the cliffhanger moot by immediately launching into the preview for next week’s episode which lets us know that President Roslin’s shuttle makes it, Tigh dies, and Adama is captured. Obviously the Sci-Fi Channel knows that viewers don’t want to be bothered being kept in suspense for an entire seven days.

LOST: Jughead - Is Sawyer Running Out of Nicknames?
Now that we’re past first couple of hours of season 5 it appears that we’re not going to be splitting focus too often now. Episode 3 of the new season, Jughead, pretty much confines us to the island again and increasingly intriguing story developing amidst our unwilling time travelers. This time they get to spend a day in the company of a Hydrogen Bomb named after a popular character from the Archie Comics.

V - Classic 80s Sci-fi Gets the Go Ahead for a Remake
It looks like our favorite early 80’s TV Sci-Fi aliens have gotten the green light to reinvade Earth in a remake of the 1983 miniseries V. Any geeks in their mid 30s or older are more than likely all too familiar with this TV gem. However, I do admit mixed emotions about the return of this property to our screens. There’s a whole sordid soap opera that’s been brewing over this for the past couple of years, and this is the outcome that makes me the least excited about seeing these aliens again.

Monday Mania - NFL News, Notes - Eat Up!
Somehow, someway, we still managed to have a pretty interesting week in the world of the NFL without a single game played. The NFL pulls makes its fans bloodlustful for news and discussion of their favorite sport unlike any other. Well, maybe the futbolers of the “other world” have this type of compelling nature and, in fact, they really do but I’d certainly take American ball any day of the week. So what did happened this week?

Slumdog Millionaire’s Oscar Nods Give It a Push for Wide Release
Nearly a month in to 2009, Best Picture nominee Slumdog Millionaire finally gets a “full” U.S. release this week. Of the gaggle of nominations this film has racked up, my personal feeling is that the film’s most remarkable achievements are in editing and cinematography. However, in the framework of the story director Danny Boyle is trying to tell, it’s basically that if you think your life sucks, take a look at this.

Galactica: A Disquiet Follows My Soul - Things Continue to Get Ugly
I suppose we all knew that things were going to go completely to hell in the last handful of episodes of Galactica. At this point, things are turning so ugly so fast that it makes you almost not even want to turn it on next week, not because the show isn’t still maintaining a high level of quality, but because you just know how painful it’s going to be watching the pathetic remains of the human race pretty much destroy itself over the next 8 or 9 episodes. And is anyone starting to wish that they had gone ahead and tossed Felix Gaeta’s ass out of that airlock a couple of seasons ago?

Fable II: Knothole Island Review
Fable II was, as many expected, not a very long game when following the storyline so any type of expansion is an improvement. The game also left players mixed up with having certain parts of outfits but not the rest and that just did not make sense. Well, now it’s time for it to make perfect sense and for Lionhead to make some more cent$. Behold, the Fable II: Knothole Island expansion is upon us as it’s shadow is cast upon our merciful credit cards!

LOST Season 5 - Jack Off (drugs) and Island Bound
As if we needed any further reason to plant our asses on the couch for additional hour per week, Lost has come back for it’s 5th and penultimate season. The 2 hour premier, made up of two episodes Because You Left and The Lie did supply quite a bang to jump start my enthusiasm for the show again. While I don’t classify Lost as a television program as much as I do “digital crack” I think it managed to fulfill the fix more efficiently than Jack taking a trip to the hospital pharmacy.
