Cutler, Travis Henry, Stallworth, Galloway, Mock Drafts, Golf, March Madness - SIGN UP

Bracketology is all the rage today with the bubble teams already being burst and bets starting to be thrown down. I’m really not a basketball guy but anyone that is interested in sports will know you just HAVE to fill out a bracket. We are going to make it easy for everyone this year with the creation of our first annual Yahoo! March Madness bracket. To sign up you just need to have a Yahoo! account and register for our bracket. If you are familiar with the system on Yahoo our group ID is 113087 and the password is deviantknowledge09 or just check out the sticky in our forum over at the March Madness Offical Thread.

With that out of the way, today will feature thoughts on where Cutler might end up, why people should shut it for now on Donte Stallworth’s car vs Pedestrian, updated mock drafts, and one of Golf’s failures.

Cutler and Bronco’s Need Hugs…
I have to say, if you asked me “What team needs a QB this off-season?” it sure as hell wasn’t going to be the Denver Bronco’s. However, thanks to new coach Josh McDaniels I think that answer changes. McDaniels got caught trying to trade Cutler for former New England QB Matt Cassell. Hey, I can get along with that since Cassell is familar to McDaniels coaching and McDaniels knows what’s up with Cassell’s ability as a QB. It only really got bad when Cutler found out and called out the organization (specifically McDaniels) about it and they decided to deny it all! Why in the hell would you do that? McDaniels had a perfect excuse and an opportune time to settle up once Cassell became a Kansas City Chief. In their last meeting McDaniels finally admitted it all and basically told Cutler he’d do whatever he would want to. I know there are a lot of people other there saying Cutler is being too sensitive but I wouldn’t want to play for the guy either.

This all brings us to the point where are at now with Cutler formally asking for a trade. So who’s biting? Even though the Vikings first said they are not intersted I think you’ll see them near the top of the mix. The Cleveland Browns have been mentioned since it could work well for both teams. Cutler could go to the Browns and the Browns could send a starting quality QB of either Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson to Denver. Other teams could include San Francisco, Chicago, and the Jets. Could be interesting but might not even resolve until draft day or later.

Travis Henry Needs a Nanny… or 10
How’s that saying go? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. How about 10 freaking times?! Travis Henry has been apparently plotting to take back the NFL with his OWN football team as he has now fathered 11 kids. The problem lies in the fact that they are to 10 different women. In recent interviews he has said “Well, I used protection the first couple times then they’d tell me they were on the pill.” 10 times, Mr. Henry, 10 FREAKING times. Henry is now backed into a corner after being out of the NFL due to substance violations and owing $17,000 a month in child support. Henry has not only made a large mistake but this is epic in proportion. As I see it Henry needs to take the reigns here and make some money off of this by initiating a Reality TV-Porno. “Travis Henry: Baby Maker — Follow along to see who Travis impregnates next!”

Donte Stallworth
If anyone missed it Donte Stallworth ran over or into a pedestrian this past weekend and killed him. Juan Sanchez, the pedestrian, was known as a family man. Policy are in the process of completing a toxicology report to see if Stallworth was at all impaired at the time and as of right now no charges have been filed. I think people need to sit back and observe on this one. There are a lot of rumors floating around about what happened but no one really knows right now so let’s just see. I just hope the best for the Sanchez family.

Joey Galloway to Patriots
Way to go NFL, way to go. In yet, again, another cunning move by Bill Belichick the Patriots have signed Joey Galloway. How does the rest of the league continue to let this shit happen? Galloway might only have a year or two left in him but the guy can still run. Should Galloway stay healthy this year the Pats now have a deep receiving core with Moss, Welker, Galloway, and Lewis followed by a couple of young backups. Now, instead of just having to account for Moss and Welker everyone has to watch out for Galloway burning them too. Go, Bill.

Mock Draft Updates
As I have already said I’m merely a mock draft commentator as I do not feel I know enough about the players to do a complete mock up myself. Here’s what some of the “experts” are posting though…

Don Banks - SI.com Top 10
1. Detroit Lions - Jason Smith OT - Baylor
2. St. Louis Rams - Enguene Monroe OT - Virginia
3. Kansas City Chiefs - Aaron Curry OLB - Wake Forest
4. Seattle Seahawks - B.J. Raji DT - Boston College
5. Cleavland Browns - Everette Brown DE/LB - Florida State
6. Cincinnati Bengals - Brian Orakpo DE/LB - Texas
7. Oakland Raiders - Michael Crabtree WR - Texas Tech
8. Jacksonville Jaguars - Mark Sanchez QB - USC
9. Green Bay Packers - Malcolm Jenkins CB - Ohio State
10. San Francisco 49ers - Matthew Stafford QB - Georgia

Hyper’s Commentary - I don’t see how Crabtree sticks around that long with so many teams in need of a reciever drafting before the Raiders. With hybrid DE/LB players becoming so common (these guys are mostly pass rushers) why would anyone take one of those guys over a talent like Crabtree? Don’t be surprised if Crabtree doesn’t make it past the Rams.

Chris Steuber - Scout.com Top 10
1. Detroit Lions - Mark Sanchez QB - USC
2. St. Louis Rams - Michael Oher OT - Mississippi
3. Kansas City Chiefs - Eugene Monroe OT - Virginia
4. Seattle Seahawks - Michael Crabtree WR - Texas Tech
5. Cleavland Browns - Aaron Curry OLB - Wake Forest
6. Cincinnati Bengals - Everette Brown DE/LB - Florida State
7. Oakland Raiders - Andre Smith OT - Alabama
8. Jacksonville Jaguars - Malcolm Jenkins CB - Ohio State
9. Green Bay Packers - B.J. Raji DT - Boston College
10. San Francisco 49ers - Matthew Stafford QB - Georgia

Hyper’s Commentary - I just can’t see Sanchez going #1 with his limited college experience. I do, however, like the B.J. Raji pick for the Packers since I think they really need to build their defensive line. Notice no Jason Smith in the Top 10 here.

Pete Prisco - CBSSports.com Top 10
1. Detroit Lions - Jason Smith OT - Baylor
2. St. Louis Rams - Eugene Monroe OT - Virginia
3. Kansas City Chiefs - Aaron Curry OLB - Wake Forest
4. Seattle Seahawks - B.J. Raji DT - Boston College
5. Cleavland Browns - Brian Orakpo DE/LB - Texas
6. Cincinnati Bengals - Andre Smith OT - Alabama
7. Oakland Raiders - Jeremy Maclin WR - Missouri
8. Jacksonville Jaguars - Matthew Stafford QB - Georgia
9. Green Bay Packers - Everette Brown DE/LB - Florida State
10. San Francisco 49ers - Michael Crabtree WR - Texas Tech

Hyper’s Commentary - Wow! I think this one is a rare mix of dead on the money and terrible at the same time. Good chance that Curry goes to KC if he’s left there. Pioli knows if he can get the best player in the draft at #3 it’s a steal. I can see the Raiders being dumb enough to draft a WR but Maclin over Crabtree? The Raiders are obsessed with names and wouldn’t pass on Crabtree if they are taking a receiver. I also really doubt the Jags are even thinking about drafting a QB in the Top 10. They have way too many other needs.

Non-NFL News
Over the weekend there was a great story in the world of golf that pretty much everyone missed because, apparently, golf = Tiger Woods. Phil Mickelson got his first World Golf Champioship win and in stunning style with very little spoke about it or not even enough. Mickelson has taken a ton of shots from golf critics and commentators because they all see him as “soft” and too non-competitive. Phil is just different though, and they don’t see it. Mickelson won this past weekends event at Doral while getting 2 IV’s at the hospital the night before. No one even knew about it until after the tournament. At one point his caddy was watching him and was about to break down a bathroom stall due to fear he passed out. Even Jim Rome gave the guy a little bit of credit (btw, Rome, I don’t think you can really call him Hefty anymore).

So, what’s my beef? I saw a headline today from Foxnews that had a headline of Mickelson’s win with a picture of Tiger! I just don’t get it. I know Tiger is “Tiger” and everyone loves to cheer for the guy and it’s a great story blah blah blah but there are a lot more stories out there that are being missed. Other golfers are killing Tiger right now and no one knows who they are because the only thing being reported, aside from the winner, is Tiger! Let’s go Golf, get it into gear and start to get other names out there. Your longevity depends on it.
