Last House on the Left: An Evening of Torture, Rape and Fun Times

If you’re one that anxiously anticipates the release of each new Hollywood offering in the “torture porn” genre you probably have the release of the Last House on The Left marked in blood on your calendar. This remake of the Wes Craven 1972 film of the same name serves up more of the emotional self-punishment that seems to have captivated a fairly robust segment of moviegoers over the past several years. While the genre is not new, something about it has nabbed a mainstream following recently, probably turning the corner with the release of the original Saw in 2004 and Eli Roth’s Hostel the following year.

Galactica: Daybreak Part 1- Facing the End

I’ve actually toyed with the idea that I won’t watch the series finale next week. It is with some shame that I have to admit that even though I’m a grown man that loves his action flix, Star Trek and the occasional adult magazine I tend to allow myself to get a little overly emotional in the face the conclusion of a nearly 5 year investment of my time and attention. And so, yes, I did start the process of beginning to choke up during Daybreak Part 1.

Razer Armadillo Cable Management System - Review

It seems like everyone is going ‘wireless.’ If you were to go to Staples or anywhere else for a new keyboard and mouse I would bet that 3/4 of the selection have had their cords severed. Heck, can you even buy a router anymore that doesn’t have an 802.11x standard built into it? There was just a study saying 25% of all adults in Washington DC are cell phone only. No cords for those folks! Well, call me old school, archaic or anything else but I refuse to give up the cords for my keyboard and mouse. I even use a PS2 keyboard! So, if you’re like me and want your mouse attached then you’re going to want to look at the Razer Armadillo Cable Management System.

Heroes: Shades of Gray - Bryan Fuller Tries to Stop the Bleeding.

Last Monday, I was simply too apathetic to say anything worthwhile about Heroes. I guess the only thing less inspiring than watching an inexplicably terrible new episode of Heroes each week was watching a totally mediocre episode. I guess if you don’t hate it and you don’t love it, it’s hard to muster enough motivation to even discuss it. I’m not going to wax poetic about Shades of Gray, the first episode on the books with Bryan Fuller back in the Heroes writers’ room, but I’m not going to tear it to pieces.

Monday Mania - March 9th, 2009 - Bills get T-Owned; Pats at it Again; Sign these guys!

Another week, another big move in free agency. It’s this time of year, the off-season, that it’s obvious why the NFL is such a huge draw; the game never stops! Without a single football game being played fans all over the league are cheering and booing with all the things that “their” teams are doing. The addition or subtraction of just one player can cause a huge stir and even drive ticket sales. This week it’s the Buffalo Bills making the waves…

Insert Lame “Who Watches the Watchmen” Joke Here

The film version of Watchmen does its level best to stay true to the look of the graphic novel. They expend considerable effort getting the costumes right, having the characters look like their drawn counterparts, perfectly duplicating the props, even framing some of the shots to match the panels in the book.

It’s just everything else they get wrong.

Watchmen: Three Hours and Twelve Dollars Later…

The clock struck midnight and March 6, 2009 finally arrived. It was a day that had spent time in doubt with hostilities between the studios competing over the film’s rights brewing more hotly than the U.S. – Soviet relations that are the central plot device for the Watchmen story. But it all worked out because the two media giants found a new friendship when the dollar figure was right. Any fan of Watchmen would have done well to temper expectations, but judging by the already packed Imax screen showing at 11:15 last night, a full 46 minutes before the projector rolled, that wasn’t going to happen. So it’s time to assess the damage.

T-Owned

Turn out the lights, the party’s over. The party that was TO being in Dallas, that is. As of this morning the Cowboys have cut Terrell Owens and are moving on with their lives. Ownership and coaches must have felt that TO had become too much of a distraction to deal with. The neat part about all this is both sides, Jerry Jones and TO, got T-Owned in the end. It’s a good bit of a laughing matter, really. What does this mean for the Cowboys as they move forward? Where might Owens end up? Read on for the q0wnage.

LOST: LaFleur is 25 Years Too Soon

Since last season we’ve been hearing the same refrain over and over again. In every possible worried tone and accompanied by every possible facial contortion from Jack we’ve been hearing “We’ve gotta go back to the island.” “You’ve gotta go back to the island, Jack.” “We’ve gotta go back to the island, Kate!” “You shouldn’t have left the island, Jack.” Just like Faraday’s description of the island being a record skipping, this refrain had gotten old. Two weeks ago it was a relief to actually get their rear ends back to the island so we wouldn’t have the hear it again. So now what?

Why Wii Fail: Two Years Later, the Nintendo Wii’s Shortcomings Become More Glaring with Age

Over two years into the life span of the hot selling Nintendo Wii console it’s time to take a step back and evaluate some of the console’s most frustrating shortcomings and how this cash cow of a machine could have been so much more. Personally, I had my Wii in hand the day it came out and was instantly thrilled. Nowadays, I still look at the cute little white box lovingly, but find myself continuously baffled by the shortsightedness of Nintendo in execution and curse it on a regular basis for a number of reasons.
