Lost: The Variable. Time Travel Paradoxes Continue to Elude Attempts to Cause Them in the 100th Episode.
It’s official, Daniel Faraday’s mom is a real punk. We have continually seen her behavior get more distasteful and rude over the show’s run, and this time she finally comes within striking distance of Ben Linus as the most hated character in Lostland. Not only does she shoot my current favorite supporting character, it’s her own son.

Heroes: An Invisible Thread. Take the Fork Out? Maybe This Show Isn’t Quite Done Yet.
I have mixed feelings about the season finale of Heroes, An Invisible Thread. While I certainly think that the show has been on a major course correction since even before Bryan Fuller came back on board, it’s still a long way from having all the pieces put back together. That being said, I was happy and shocked at the size of the testicles this program managed to grow in the closing moments of the season closer. Not only shocked, but almost a bit delighted.

After-Draft; Surprisingly Good, Surprisingly Bad, and just Surprising

The 2009 Draft has wrapped up and there have already been draft grades assigned by some writers. I’m not much of a grade guy and there should be some sort of easy to track database of what the analyists say about guy x and y and how they turn out. So, this will be more based on what I know and what I think a team needed. I’m not here to rip on kids right out of college (unless they do something ridiculously stupid) but sometimes it can be hard to find the positive.

The Soloist Stands on the Talent of a Pair of Great Performances
The overwhelming problem with The Soloist is that it the odds become ultimately unfairly stacked in its favor by having possibly one of the greatest current living actors Robert Downey, Jr. If there’s living proof that hardcore substance abuse is generally a positive if you and your loved ones can survive it, if you have any loved ones left after it’s over.

Windows Home Server Part 3 - Low/High End Builds
Part 3 in our projected 5 part series is here to help everyone pick out some hardware for their budget. This was originally slated to include installation and networking setup but I decided to make that part 4 since it really wasn’t fitting here. For the builds I will be using Newegg to price out two new servers. This section is really all about actually making it happen after realizing you need a home server too.
Builds
I gotta admit, this was actually quite a bit harder than I thought it would be. Well, the main reason was the budget restraint of $500 for the lower end build. Also, there are many things that can be changed with my “high end” build but it’s more an example of what the two budgets can lead to.

Caprica Pilot Grounds the Galactica Universe but Still Maintains Dark Themes
For those that are already going through withdrawal from the removal of Battlestar Galactica from their lives, the Sci-Fi Channel is offering fans the unique opportunity to pay $20.00 or more for the pleasure of watching something on DVD they could see for free next year: the pilot to Caprica, the prequel series to Galactica where the audience can experience the 58 years hence doomed human race plotting their own destruction retracing the steps of the creation of the Cylon race.

Monday Mania - NFL Pre-Draft Open House
THE draft is upon us. This weekend will be the NFL draft and I thought we needed to have at least some mention of it here. No, this isn’t going to be a crazy article filled with my “all-knowing” predictions like these once a year gophers. Instead, I’m just going to have a little bit of an open forum here to share thoughts on what I think SHOULD happen and what will probably happen.

Crank: High Voltage: Gratuitous Violence, Outlandish Erotica, and Something to Offend Everyone!
It’s been a while since I walked out of a movie feeling like I needed a shower, but Crank: High Voltage seemed to do the trick this time. I’m not sure what draws me in to a sequel to a film I never saw based on a trailer that looks utterly ridiculous. The fact is, though, that as outrageous as the trailer looks, it doesn’t even begin to tell the story of a movie as far out and crazed as Crank 2. Is that a good thing?

Windows Home Server Part 2 - Hardware / Network / Installation Notes
This is the second in a series of Windows Home Server articles that will be on this site. Right now, I’m thinking it will be a 5 part series and if you missed the first then go ahead and check out Windows Home Server Part 1 now. Here in part 2 we are going to be discussing all the hardware that you need to get started, what to buy, networking, and some brief install notes. I will also be giving an overview of the server I use at home with things I like and would do differently or will be upgrading.
It Starts with the Network
Windows Home Server is basically an easy to use but powerful Network Attached Storage system (NAS). The key to this is that it’s attached to the network and accessed that way. Well, when you have one bridge to an island that a lot of people want to get to you should make sure it’s big enough. It is easy and fairly cheap to get your network upgraded at home so lets look at what we need.

Red Dwarf: Back to Earth The Cult Comedy Returns After a 10 Year Hiatus.
The legendary science fiction program Red Dwarf has now officially put three new episodes on the books after a ten year lay off since the cliff hanger ending of series 8. In traditional Red Dwarf fashion, show co-creator Doug Naylor completely ignores the cliffhanger and picks the story up 9 years later with no legit explanations of anything. For the vast majority of shows, this may seem like a cop out, but I prefer to look at it as completely inconsequential to the fact that we had another opportunity to revisit some of the most deliciously pathetic fictional characters ever created for television. Did the return do the show justice?
