Another Monday another column.  Huge turn around this week in football with two teams that have made some really poor decisions the last couple of years making really good ones.  Though, for each of the teams making good decisions there are always others doing stupid things.  That’s just how the cookie crumbles as the blue furry monster used to say.  Of course, I have to get in my take onPlaxico Burress’s fall from grace.  What can I say, I just can’t understand how some people can be so darn stupid.

Plaxico
burressAh, Plaxico Burress.  First, the Giants have finally made a good decision when they cut Burress.  However, don’t start praising the Giants because they have been stringing this out forever and always taking the “We would welcome him back” stance.  New York is not to be praised for this as “good guys” but rather recognized as the organization that went the whole way to the edge of the cliff, put a foot over, slipped, and was fortunate enough to grabahold before falling.  This isn’t Pittsburgh cutting the guy for being a problem but rather having absolutely no other choice.  Really, it’s rather pathetic because I’d take the bet that they’d still resign him.  *Sigh*

The real question in all of this is how bad life must of been for Plaxico Burress.  This poor guy was worshipped in New York, given pardons and exceptions by a Coach that doesn’t give pardons, had tons of money, and it certainly seemed like he could do anything he wanted.  What a terrible life, I really feel bad for the guy.  I can totally understand how he was so miserable that he needed to be hanging out at “Da Club” until the wee hours of the morning with a loaded gun.  Gosh, you know, he was probably trying to commit suicide when that gun went off so it’s a good thing he’s a terrible shot.  The cop he screamed F-Bombs at definitely had it coming cause he just doesn’t know not to mess withPlaxico.  Bottom line here is that Plaxico is just a gangsta emo kid.  Boo Hoo, cry me a river and go to jail, loser.

Vikings don’t want to Win
This is a really simple and yet overlooked observation but the Minnesota Vikings have no plans of being Champs anytime soon.  Minnesota has an excellent team in place and yet they are really far away from a championship due to lack of direction from their organization.  It’s not too often that one player could make or break a team’s Super Bowl run but this team desperately needs a Quarterback.  SageRosenfels, Gus Frerotte, and Tarvaris Jackson combine for a lifetime rating of 77.3 which is pretty much terrible.  Adrian Peterson is going to look back on his career, which will end earlier than it should, and realize if he had just had a QB he would have been a champion.  There have been plenty of guys available for either trade or as a free agent.  I have been hammering everyone with the reminder that Jeff Garcia is available but there were a lot more.  ChrisSimms, Jay Cutler, Byron Leftwich , Jeff Garcia, and Charlie Batch are all guys that could make that team instantly better.  Cutler would have been the only trade and Batch andLeftwich are still available.  Unlike the Bears who should really be rebuilding, the Vikings have a very solid team in place and could have and SHOULD have given up the draft picks to get Cutler.  Until they go out of the way to get a QBMinnsota will only ever be above average.  Maybe John David Booty can save them.

More Jeff Garcia
carmellagarciaFinally!  I’ve mentioned it a lot that someone needed to get this guy and it’s finally happened though with an interesting spin.  In a shocking moment of good decision making Jeff Garcia has been signed by the… Raiders!  I can’t even come close to saying “I saw that coming” but that’s just fine.  Jeff Garcia is a guy that has basically done nothing but succeed on the field his whole career.  It’s quite good since he has been with teams like the Lions and Browns.  Even when those teams were struggling he generally remained a positive note.  This move by the Raiders makes me wonder ifJaMarcus “Culpepper ” Russell is going to be gone ASAP or they think Garcia can get him on the right path.  Making Garcia the game day starter is a huge instant upgrade for this organization so let’s see if they choose to do that.  Oh, and since we have been getting hits on it here is another picture of Garcia’s smoking hot wife, Carmella Garcia.  Enjoy!

Non-Football Note of the Week - NCAA Tourney Championship
michstateUConn who?  Jim Calwho?  Michigan State certainly isn’t a dark horse this year but they’ve managed to get into the dance playing defense while their opponents were busy just trying to hit J’s.  This should really be a great match up with the classic battle of D v. O. Michgan State averaged 72.8 points per game through the tourney to North Carolina’s 87.6.  A 15 point spread is no joke but then you look at the other side with Michigan State holding their opponents to 63.6 points per game and it’s a little bit closer. UNC did only give up 66.8 points per game but their competition was weaker and they held Radford to just 58 with their cheerleading squad.  I sold out on the Baby Blues this year though with picking them in all 3 of my brackets but I’m only about 70% confident they will win.  Michigan State is playing hyped up while Carolina has simply been on cruise control.  Should be one for the ages.

Tech Note of the Week / Article Preview
I recently switched to a customized Ubuntu install on my personal server to Windows Home Server.  At this point it has been a great decision and ridiculously easy and powerful.  If you are looking to build your own server or convert and old PC sit tight while I start on this series.  The first part will be later this week just to help you get started.
