DK Book of the Month Pick: Rhymes With Duck
This month’s Deviant Knowledge Book of the Month pick is the educational classic Rhymes with Duck. Few children’s books have moved me to tears before I’ve even gotten past the cover but this one is certainly an attention getter.
Picked up at one of our fine local “Dollar” Stores, I can’t help but wonder how the concept behind the writing and publishing this book ever got past the “humorous suggestion” phase.
Now that I’ve photographed it, this classic will be returning to its rightful place prominently displayed on my desk at work where a week rarely goes by without a co-worker passing by and having to actually pick it up and flip through the cardboard pages for a moment before believing this is for real.
In any case, this phonics book has had a taming influence on my vocabulary. I’ve managed to curtail my cursing somewhat by simply exclaiming “Rhymes with Duck!”
