“Push” Movie Trailer - Didn’t this used to be a TV series called “Heroes”?
Over the last few weeks, you may have seen the trailer for the upcoming movie Push in front of other films at the cinema. It is also available online here or embedded below. My initial reaction was, “Hey, this looks cool, but I liked it better the first time I saw it, when it was called Heroes.”
Now, I’ll be the first to admit, Heroes is by no means an original concept, it borrows heavily from comic book source material, not the least of which is the popular X-Men series, but the list of similarities between Heroes and the trailer for Push is utterly ridiculous. Has Heroes creator Tim Kring seen this trailer? Let’s take a “short list” approach and look at some of the “incredible” plot coincidences.

Heroes: Our Father - has someone been praying for this show?
A couple of weeks ago I wrote that I could no longer muster the effort continue to pound on this poor, misguided mess that the television show Heroes had become. There’s only so many different ways you could describe a weekly recurring train wreck. Since then, there have been some developments. First and most interesting is that Bryan Fuller, the writer behind some the strongest episodes of Heroes season 1 was contracted to script the final few episodes of season 3 since his other project Pushing Daisies was unceremoniously canned.
This in itself is not that promising.
Even the most skilled surgeon can’t bandage a gaping head wound with a box of band-aids.
However, this news is in addition to the fact that with tonight’s episode, Our Father, we have had the two best back to back episodes of the series since the first season.

Heroes — It’s time to stick a fork in it…
As much as it pains me to say this, I can’t continue to write weekly reviews or comments about Heroes anymore. After the incredibly entertaining first
season, I was giving season two some slack. Like many fans I was chalking up a lot of the issues to the writer’s strike. I see now that this was way off the mark. The issues facing this show run much deeper than the writer’s strike or any single writer.
A recent interview with the creator of Heroes yielded a fairly surprising admission.

Heroes Writers Sacked - Show in Distress
I’m going to put in my review of Monday November 10th’s Heroes before it airs. Here it is:
Uneven. Unthoughtful. Unexciting. Borderline insulting to the intelligence, at least to the majority of fans still left that really enjoyed the first season.
The show started a slide in the first 60 minutes of season 2 and it’s just gotten worse.

Heroes: Dying of the Light…or Just Poor Plotting?
With the World Series getting ready to roll let’s make with the baseball analogies. I’m starting to believe there are no Home Runs left in Heroes. Maybe it’s like the curse of the Bambino. The Red Sox traded Babe Ruth and suffered decade after decade of pain. Heroes traded it’s sanity and soul and is in the midst of hell.

Heroes Ratings Slide Continues: This Week–Angels and Demons
Ratings for season 3 of Heroes continue their slide going into week 4. I think the sins of season 2 are not forgotten. Producer Tim Kring had to apologize for the mess that was last year. I have the bad feeling that nothing short of a spectacular launch for the new year could have prevented the loss of viewership.

Heroes: I Am Become As Is Done Be Is Death!
Okay, that’s not really the title of the episode.
This week was actually I Am Become Death. Yes, that’s the episode’s true title and not the alleged result of high junior high students promoted to high school under the “No Child Left Behind” program.
The title refers to the utter flippin’ mess Peter Petrelli is making of things by flitting back and forth between the future and the present.

Heroes: One of Us, One of Them
Sorry folks, I’m still not sold on this show making a come back. However, I’m still sticking with it on the outside chance that they can fix some of the plot and character issues and return it somewhat close to what it was in season one. I will at least give credit where credit is due, and episode 3 of the new season, One of Us, One of Them is a vast improvement over last week’s premier as well as what most of season 2 had to offer.
There are still tons of problems.

Heroes - Can Season 3 Redeem This Show?
If you’re a conscious human being it was hard not to realize that the Heroes season 3 premiere was tonight. NBC was promoting the hell out of it and you would routinely see television spots, magazine ads, street signs posted at busy intersections or affixed with masking tape to various members of the local clergy. Even McCain and Obama reminded viewers of 60 Minutes last night during their interviews to not miss the premier of Heroes September 22nd on NBC!
