Monday Mania - May 11th, 2009 - Favre!, Cowboys Practice Facility, Rams, Manny, Hockey?
The draft has come and gone so now what are we going to talk about? Surprisingly, the same old things with different takes! Well, kind of. The media seems to get pretty bored in the summer time which means we often to get hear one news item repeated over and over with the same thoughts and opinions. Interestingly enough, it has happened again with this Brett Favre ”Stuff.” I want to give everyone my take on that since I have yet to hear a media person follow my opinion. Also, what happened in Dallas? St. Louis’s defense was terrible last year so they decided to make it worse. Let’s not forget some non-football talk with WoManny Ramirez and thoughts on a darn good hockey game.

After-Draft; Surprisingly Good, Surprisingly Bad, and just Surprising
The 2009 Draft has wrapped up and there have already been draft grades assigned by some writers. I’m not much of a grade guy and there should be some sort of easy to track database of what the analyists say about guy x and y and how they turn out. So, this will be more based on what I know and what I think a team needed. I’m not here to rip on kids right out of college (unless they do something ridiculously stupid) but sometimes it can be hard to find the positive.

Monday Mania - NFL Pre-Draft Open House
THE draft is upon us. This weekend will be the NFL draft and I thought we needed to have at least some mention of it here. No, this isn’t going to be a crazy article filled with my “all-knowing” predictions like these once a year gophers. Instead, I’m just going to have a little bit of an open forum here to share thoughts on what I think SHOULD happen and what will probably happen.

This article is going to be a little shorter than usual and will have a follow up probably Friday to get ready for the draft this weekend. That’s right, it’s taken forever but the draft will be this weekend. Today’s article, however, will be pointing out the Buc’s new QB, a couple (more) idiots that play in the NFL, and a new contract for James Harrison. Shall we?

Another Monday another column. Huge turn around this week in football with two teams that have made some really poor decisions the last couple of years making really good ones. Though, for each of the teams making good decisions there are always others doing stupid things. That’s just how the cookie crumbles as the blue furry monster used to say. Of course, I have to get in my take onPlaxico Burress’s fall from grace. What can I say, I just can’t understand how some people can be so darn stupid.

Cutler to Chicago! Denver gets a Farm!
Whelp, it’s over and just beginning at the same time! Jay Cutler will be landing in Chicago with Kyle Orton and two first round picks on the way to Denver. Who has won in this? Well, I’m not really sure but I’m going to attempt to break it down in this column. Also, more opinion on why I think McDaniels and the Bronco’s are “to blame” even though I think this is all been orchestrated from the beginning for the most part. Conspiracy theory? No, not exactly.

With all of the showmanship put up by the new, young, Bronco’s coach I really think all of his outcries about Cutler were just smoke and mirrors. Yes, that’s right, I don’t think McDaniels EVER wanted anything to do with Cutler. I know I am rehashing but humor me.

I really thought this was going to be a boring week in the NFL. Everyone and their mother seemed a lot more concerned about the man-child, Blake Griffith, taking on UNC. Live and learn because while it might not have been the most exciting week of the NFL there are still some crazy topics out there and this week I really do mean crazy! Yeah, we’ll get to the NCAA tourney and how well/poorly I’m doing but this weeks news is about as elegant as smashing butterflies with a sledge hammer if I’m being honest.

Another week, another big move in free agency. It’s this time of year, the off-season, that it’s obvious why the NFL is such a huge draw; the game never stops! T-Owned
Turn out the lights, the party’s over. The party that was TO being in Dallas, that is. As of this morning the Cowboys have cut Terrell Owens and are moving on with their lives. Ownership and coaches must have felt that TO had become too much of a distraction to deal with. The neat part about all this is both sides, Jerry Jones and TO, got T-Owned in the end. It’s a good bit of a laughing matter, really. What does this mean for the Cowboys as they move forward? Where might Owens end up? Read on for the q0wnage.
